●インターネット・クラブ(IIEC)秋の例会の報告

今回も笑いの絶えない楽しい例会となりました。

[] 例会に使用して来たHBRの状況説明。今年4月以来1週間の半分のみ使用可能（今回の例会が日曜でなく土曜になった理由）。契約は12月末で終了。以後のHBRの状況は不明。例会には使えない可能性高し。
[] Facebook、Twitter、Instagram、Snapchatとは何か=Social media。Instantaneousにtextや写真で情報交換する。
[] Smart phoneのDATAとは何か=Voiceだけでなく常にinternetも使えるservice。WiFi hotspotが不要。
[] APPとは何か=店・銀行のAPPをinstallしておくとinteractionが便利。
[] Equifax hacking問題=Passwordを覚えるのが大変。会社ではe-mail passwordは定期的に変更要。簡単なformula・暗号でやっている。Password記録用ノートあり。
[] いろいろな番号(Credit cardなど)は変更できるがSINだけは出来ない。絶対に持ち歩かない。日本の「マイナンバー」制は何にでも必要でとても危ない。
[] Windows 10がこのところextensive up-datesをしている。
[] Anti-Virus softwareは更新するより年末に店で新しいのを買う方が安い。
[] Bell internetはAnti-Virus service込み。
[] YouTubeをdownloadしたい=DVDvideosoft。余計なdownloadが付いてこないようboxesをclick offする。
[] 古いアパートで電話線を光ファイバーに交換。（新しいアパートやcondoはすでに光ファイバー）。
[] FilesのみUSB(4GB)に定期的にback up。写真は1年分をDVDに保管。
[] 古いharddriveのdispose。Diskそのものの破壊が必要。ねじのheadが通常と違うので開けずらい。海に放棄。
[] Pre-paid cashcard/credit cardの話。Prepaid cardの使い方。
[] カナダの医療systemの経験談。
[] Credit cardの上限増加許可が来た-->不必要なら上げない。上限以上使う時はあらかじめその額を入れておく。
[] 日本の新聞：記事全部が契約しないと読めない（朝日新聞は1日1記事のみ読める）。
[] 中国店で日本のような大きな牡蛎や太平洋のサバや生たらこが買えるようになった。

・・・などなど笑いの絶えない3時間でした。今回は今までになく豊富なスナックの差し入れがありました。ありがとう。

◇例年通りだと次の例会は4月中旬です。しかしながら今まで使って来たJCCCのHiroko Barall Room (HBR)が今年一杯で契約切れとなります。何とか場所を探して例会は続けたいと思っていますが、今のところ全く未定です。今後の情報を注意の事。

We had lively discussions with a lot of laughs.

[] Explained the status of the HBR which we have been using for our meetings.  The Ijusha could use the HBR only half a week since this April.  (The reason why this Fall meeting was on Saturday instead of usual Sunday).  The HBR contract will end at the end of December.  The status of the HBR after that is not clear.  However, the availability of the HBR for our meetings is highly questionable.
[] What are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat etc. = They are Social Media.  Instantaneous information exchanges by text or photos.
[] What is DATA in smart phone = Internet is connected all time.  No need for WiFi hotspots.
[] What is APP = Install APPs of stores or banks, then interactions with them are easier and simpler.
[] Equifax hacking incident = Hard to remember all the passwords.  Companies request to change email password periodically.  Remembering passwords using simple formula or codes.  A notebook for keeping passwords.
[] You can change various numbers such as on credit cards.  However, the SIN cannot be changed.  Never carry it around.  Japan's My Number system is used in many systems in Japan.  It is quite dangerous.
[] Windows 10 seems to be doing significant up-dates in recent weeks.
[] Anti-Virus software is cheaper to buy a new one at the end of the year at stores instead of renewing online.
[] Bell Internet provides anti-virus software service included.
[] Want to download YouTube = DVDvideosoft.  Click off unwanted downloads that may come with it.
[] Old telephone wires are replaced by fibre optic cables in older apartments.  (Newer apartments and condos have fibre optic cables installed from the beginning).
[] Computer back-up.  Backing up the files only to a USB (4GB) every two weeks.  Copy photos of one year worth to a DVD.
[] Disposing old hard drives.  Need to destroy the disk itself.  Screw head does not fit regular tools --> Hard to open.  Dispose to sea.
[] Talk on prepaid cash card / credit card.  Talk on the use of prepaid cards.
[] Talk on the experiences in the Canadian healthcare system.
[] An increase of the upper limit of credit card was approved --> Do not increase unless you need it.  If you are using more than the present upper limit, deposit the required money to the card before hand.
[] Without contracts, you cannot read the entire articles of newspaper in japan.  (Asahi Newspaper allows you to read one whole article per day).
[] It is now possible to purchase large size oysters like the ones in Japan, mackerels from Pacific, raw cod roes in Chinese supermarkets.

... etc., etc. It was full of laughter for 3 hours.  We had a variety of snacks in the meeting brought by the participants, thank you.

[] Normally the spring meeting is scheduled in mid-April.  However, the contract of HBR with JCCC expires at the end of this year.  I will try to find an alternative place in order to continue the meetings.  However, I have no idea what I can do at present.  Please wait for further notices.
