●インターネット・クラブ(IIEC)秋の例会の報告

10月18日(日) JCCC 2階ヒロコバラルルーム。1pm-4pm。

●情報交換された話題

懐かしい顔ぶれが揃い楽しく有益な情報が沢山話されました。

* NHK on demand(有料）を海外から無料で見る方法とdemonstration。
* 日本のFree WiFi。MacDonald's、Starbucksなどあり便利になった。
デパートなどcardを配っている。（ただしsocial networkを使えない）。
* 新しくlaptopを買う場合AppleがいいかWindowsがいいか。
* Cell phoneのSIM cardの互換性。どれでもworkする訳ではない。
* Windows 10にup-gradeした参加者は3人。Upgradeした当初にfreeze
したり、shut downしなかったりの問題がある傾向。でも自然に治る。
Anti-virusがworkしなかった例あり。
* Windowsはsecurity patchesは自動。iPadはお知らせが来「OK」を押す。
* VistaでYoutubeが見られなくなった。VistaはWindows 10にup-grade出来ない。
* 新しいcondominiumは光ファイバーが壁まで来ている。
* Primusのe-mailが消えたりする問題。Gmailなどにしたら良い。
* Yahoo.co.jpは相手のspam folderに入る傾向あり。大事なメールはGmailで。
* Cameraから写真がdownload出来ない。Memory cardから直接。
* 最近のlaptopはDVDのない物がある。External DVD drive。
* 日本のDVDを見る。安いDVD playerをregion freeに出来る。
* 「LINE]はchat用。でもskype同様話も出来る。
* Passwordが沢山、どうする？　Secureに記録するsoftwareあり。
* Evernote.com->Handwriting(online)->Word。One note(off line)。
* 日本のAmazonからの本の購入。日本のAmazonを日本の住所で登録。

Computer/Internet以外の楽しい話題も話されました。

* デパートの喫茶室、喫茶店などはcoffeeが高い。
* 日本は座る所がない、ゴミ箱もない。でも街はきれい。

・・・などなど笑いの絶えない3時間でした。

◇例会は年2回、通常春(4月第3日曜日)と秋(10月第3日曜日)。
◇必要に応じて上記以外にも集ります。
◇セミナーの題材はcomputerやinternetに関係しないものでもかまいません。

Some old-timers showed up, making the meeting like a reunion.
Useful pieces of information were exchanged.

* Presentation and demonstration on watching NHK on demand (for fee in Japan) free from outside Japan.
* Free WiFi situation in Japan. Getting better as the outlets such as MacDoland's and Starbucks now offer free WiFi. Department store was handing out free WiFi cards. No social network connections.
* For a new laptop, which is better, Apple or Windows?
* Exchange-ability of SIM cards between cell phones. Some may not work.
* Three attendees up-graded to Windows 10. Initial troubles such as freezing and not shutting down, but they disappeared after a while. An anti-virus software did not work.
* Windows installs security patches by itself. iPad sends a notice which you can activate.
* Youtube does not work in Vista any more. Vista cannot be up-graded to Windows 10.
* New condominiums have fiber optic cables coming to the walls.
* E-mail in Primus disappears. Use other services such as Gmail.
* E-mail from Yahoo.co.jp has a tendency to go spam folders of the recipients. Using Gmail for important e-mail.
* Cannot download pictures from a camera. Download directly from the memory card.
* No DVD drive in newer laptops. External DVD drive.
* To see Japanese DVD --> Convert a cheap DVD player to a region free machine.
* Chat software LINE, Can talk also like Skype.
* Too many passwords. Software to keep the password secure.
* Evernote.com->Handwriting(online)->Word. One note(off line)。
* Buy Japanese books via Japanese Amazon. Register in Japanese Amazon using an address in Japan.

Interesting talks on Japan.

* Coffee in cafeteria in department store or in regular cafe in Japan is very expensive.
* No places to sit. No garbage bins. Yet it is very clean.

... etc., etc. It was full of laughter for 3 hours.
