High Parkの坂道の桜並木の開花を宣言します。4月16日。
今日、High Parkの大池に沿った坂道の桜並木のいくつかの木に数輪以上の開花が認められました。
2週間前の最終開花予想範囲4月16日+/-2日の真ん中です。
昨日15日は2輪見つけるのがやっとでした。
今日の数値に今週の長期予報の数値を使って再計算すると坂道の桜並木の満開は4月24日+/-2日とでます。

今年も市内の桜の開花はHigh Parkの桜より遥かに早いです。

High Parkの桜の開花が遅いのは冬の水温のままのオンタリオ湖の冷却効果の為です。




*「開花」とはあらかじめ決めた3本の木のうち2本に5ー6輪咲いた状態。
*「満開」とは90%の花が咲いた状態。

[] [Now Blooming : April 16] Nobby's Fearless Prediction of Cherry Blossoms in High Park

I declare that the cherry trees on the slope beside the big pond in High Park started blooming today. April 16th.
Today, more than a few flowers were blooming on some of the cherry trees on the slope. 
That is in the middle of my final bloom prediction range of April 16th +/-2 days. 
Yesterday, April 15th, I could find only two flowers. 
Recalculating using today's numbers and this week's long-term forecast, the cherry blossom will be in full bloom on April 24th +/-2 days.

This year, the cherry blossoms in the inner-city are blooming much earlier than those in High Park.

The late blooming in High Park is due to the cooling effect of Lake Ontario, which remains at winter water temperatures.




* The definition of the blooming is that at least 5 to 6 flowers on at least two trees each among the three pre-chosen trees bloom.
* Full bloom means the condition where 90% of the flowers are in full bloom.
