High Parkの桜の開花を宣言します。4月15日。
今日、坂に沿った桜並木の木々に少数の花が開いているのを確認しました。  
4月11日に発信した最終開花予想範囲4月18日+/-2日より1日早めです。
今日の数値に今日の長期予報の数値を使って再計算すると満開のピークは4月23日+/-2日とでます。

注1) 今冬はHigh Parkの大池がスケートが出来るほど凍結しました。大池や湖の桜並木への冷却効果が大きく、High Parkの桜の開花が市内の桜に比べてかなり遅れました。
注2) 市はcorona virus一般感染を防ぐため桜開花・満開時期にHigh Parkの桜の地域を閉鎖する意向です。
市はpod castで桜の様子を見られるようにすると言っています。

[] [Now Blooming : Apr 15] Nobby's Fearless Prediction of Cherry Blossoms at High Park

I declare that the cherry flowers in the High Park started blooming today.  April 15.
This morning (April 15), more than a few flowers were blooming on the cherry trees along the trail on the slope.
This is 1 day earlier than the FINAL prediction range of April 18 +/- 2 days that I sent out on April 11.
Recalculating using today's figure and the long range forecast, the peak of the full bloom seems to be on April 23 +/- 2 days.

Note 1: This winter,  the big pond in the park completely froze.  People were skating on it.  The cooling effect of the pond and the lake to the cherry trees was much more pronounced this year and delayed the blooming compared to the cherry trees in the inner-city which are already close to their full bloom.  
Note 2: The city intends to close off the areas of the cherry trees during the cherry blossom season this year due to COVID-19.  The city is to set up a podcast to let people enjoy the cherry blossoms virtually.

* The blooming of the cherry blossoms at High Park is normally a few days later than the cherry blossoms in the inner-city such as at the University of Toronto.



More than a few flowers are blooming today, April 15 / Still a long way to go for the full bloom.


* The definition of the blooming is that at least 5 to 6 flowers on at least two trees each among the three pre-chosen trees bloom.
* Full bloom means the condition where 90% of the flowers are in full bloom.
