Mothering, Hormones, and the Brain

Given their truly unusual features, it is fortunate for mammalian newborns that in most cases their mothers are attracted to them and attentive to their signals. ‘Optimal’ mothering is accomplished by a mother who is both positively motivated and also sensitive to her infant’s cues. How is this coordination accomplished? Through which psychological and neurobiological mechanisms? How does early life experience affect these mechanisms?

FREE public one-hour lectures followed by a question period

Noel Ryan Auditorium, Mississauga Central Library,
301 Burnhamthorpe Road W., Mississauga

Free parking is available under the library. The entrance is an unmarked ramp that can only be accessed southbound on Duke of York Boulevard between City Centre Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road.
