High Parkの桜の開花を宣言します。5月2日。(注*)
昨夕、坂に沿った桜並木の木々に数輪づつ咲いているのを確認しました。
開花予想範囲内より1日早い。
予想最終版を発信した4月24日当時の長期予報より毎日2度以上高い気温が続いたのが影響しました。
今日の数値に今日の長期予報の数値を使って再計算すると満開のピークは6日前後。(注*)

2010年4月12日(予想範囲内)

*「開花」とはあらかじめ決めた3本の木のうち2本に5ー6輪咲いた状態。
*「満開」とは80%の花が咲いた状態。

注)ボクは桜の専門家ではありません。非常に簡単な方法(*)で予想しています。開花予想が外れても責任は負えません。
(*) 日照率＝開花を早める、風/雨＝開花を遅くする、などの要素が計算式に入っていません。

I declare that the cherry flowers in the High Park started blooming. May 2. (*)
I confirmed a few flowers on some of the cherry trees along the trail on the slope yesterday late afternoon.
One day earlier than the prediction range.
In the last 10 days, the temperatures were more than 2 degrees higher than the 14 days forecast I used for the FINAL on April 24. That resulted in the earlier blooming.
Using today's calculated figure and the long range forecast, the peak of the full bloom seems to occur around May 6. (*)

April 26, 2008 (Within the prediction)
April 27, 2009 (2 days later than the prediction range)
April 12, 2010 (Within the prediction)
May 4, 2011 (1 day later than the predicted range)
April 5, 2012 (3 days later than
the predicted range)
April 30, 2013 (Within the prediction)
May 9, 2014 (1 day later than the predicted range)
May 2, 2015 (1 day earlier than the predicted range)

* The definition of the blooming is that at least 5 to 6 flowers on at least two trees each among the three pre-chosen trees bloom.
* Full bloom means the condition where 80% of the flowers are in full bloom.

Note: I am not an expert on the blooming nor the cherry blossoms. I am calculating the figures with very basic pieces of information (*). I do not take any responsibilities if the predictions are off.
(*) Such effects as sunshine hours (accelerates bloom) and wind/rain (slows bloom) are not included in the formula.
