United Nations Association in Canada's Multimedia and Multiculturalism Program Empty United Nations Association in Canada's Multimedia and Multiculturalism Program

Good morning,

The United Nations Association in Canada is proud to launch a CIC funded programme entitled Multimedia and Multiculturalism (M&M). One of the many facets of this programme will involve placing 21 ethno cultural minority youth (18 to 30 yrs) in media related internships (notably CTV and Rogers). I have attached a one page description which can be shared with all your networks. The M&M website will be live shortly, but in the interim I have posted the application on our website, the link is listed on the attachment.

The placements will be with mainstream media organizations nation wide and will likely be for six to twelve weeks. These are newsroom based placements which will require strong research and writing skills and a very good ability to work under tight deadlines. UNA-Canada have begun accepting applications. The deadline for applications is April 15th, so we are launching as fast as possible.

If you could share this with your network, that would be greatly appreciated. These are non-paid internships, however, they come with many benefits. We will be paying all expenses for the 21 participants to attend a two day training workshop in Ottawa which will include hiring consultants, workshops relating to media/communication and journalism in addition to bringing in media professionals to speak to the interns. Travel, accommodation and per diems are provided for this briefing session. We will also provide business cards to the interns to help facilitate networking while they undertake their placements. Lastly, they will have a dedicated list serve which will post media related positions in order to help them find paid work in their field. We are hoping that the contacts made during their placements will help them secure work, but if not, we will continue to assist them in getting into the industry.

Also, if you have any suggestions to whom you think I could forward this to, we certainly welcome them.

Best regards,
