The 2010 Katari Japanese Storytellers
Tane Akamatsu is a fourth generation Nikkei from Hawaii . Her ancestors hail from Hiroshima . She speaks English, Japanese and Pidgin (the Hawaiian Creole dialect), and knows American Sign Language. She collects and tells ghost stories from Japan and Hawaii .
Jack Howard is a librarian at the Far Eastern Library of the Royal Ontario Museum . Jack loves to tell the traditional stories of Japan , Korea and China . They hold in their depths the wisdom of the ages.
While working as the editor of a Japanese newspaper, Yusuke Tanaka and his friends founded Katari Group in 1994. He has been delivering his stories in New York City and Seoul . He has translated a couple of books and had them published in Japan .
Nathalie Vachon is a painter, writer/storyteller and performer living in Toronto.She is thrilled to be a part of the Katari evening of storytelling to tell some adventures of one of her favorite countries – Japan . Nathalie lived in Osaka for one and a half years.
Noriko Yamamoto is a mime and silent storyteller. She has performed at a variety of events and places since moving here in 1994: indoor and outdoor festivals, schools, libraries, television, hospitals, museums, corporate events, daycares and theatre.
Sharon Isac is an educator who taught at a French immersion school for nearly 20 years. Sharon was one of the founders of Katari Japanese Storytellers.
