世界中の人々に愛されているL・M・モンゴメリーの「赤毛のアン」を、作者の孫娘ケイト・マクドナルド・バトラーの製作総指揮で映画化したドラマ。カナダの豊かな自然を背景に、老きょうだいの家に引き取られた個性的なヒロインの喜怒哀楽を描写する。アンを『ザ・モンスター』などのエラ・バレンタインが演じ、『地獄の黙示録』などの名優マーティン・シーンらが脇を固める。四季折々の風景と共に描かれる心温まる物語が胸に染みる。ある日、年老いた兄マシュウ（マーティン・シーン）と妹マリラ（サラ・ボッツフォード）が暮らすカナダのプリンス・エドワード島の家に、アン（エラ・バレンタイン）がやって来る。彼らは手違いで来たアンに困惑するものの、次第に元気なアンの愉快な話に引き込まれるようになり。。。
Anne, 11-year-old orphan girl is mistakenly sent to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, a middle-aged brother and sister who had intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in Avonlea on Prince Edward Island. The story recounts how Anne makes her way with the Cuthberts, in school, and within the town. The Canadian production has recently opened to critic and audience acclaim in Japan and stars Ella Ballentine as Anne, Martin Sheen, Sara Botsford, and Julia Lalonde.
