Every month, the Japan Information Centre (JIC) screens short video features on modern Japanese culture, society and other subjects in the JIC Event Room.
These screenings are wonderful opportunities to discover many things about Japan that you never knew before.

1. National Treasures
Prayers Carved on the Rock- Buddha in Usuki
A designated national treasure, Oita City's "Magaibutsu" are a group of 60 stone buddhas are carved into a sheer cliff in a desolate, hilly region.
They date from the late Heian to early Kamakura periods.
The program introduces these mysterious carvings and focuses on the local people who preserved and restored the Magaibutsu.
