About the Gala:

Momiji Health Care Society will be celebrating 40 years of service to the Japanese Canadian community at our 40th Anniversary Gala. Momiji assists seniors so that they can live independently for as long as possible in their homes and enjoy an enriched quality of life, at Momiji in the seniors residence, by participating in activities at the Frank H. Hori Community Centre, or in the broader community across Ontario.  http://momiji.on.ca/en/momijis-40th-anniversary-gala/

At the Gala, we will be launching our new Momiji Community Wellness Fund. Our goal is to raise $3.5 million over a number of years. The money raised at this event will go into this new Fund which will have three phases:

* Sustain our current Senior Active Living and Assisted Living programs
* Expand our Client Intervention program
* Develop new Community Partner Sites

We will also be recognizing the 30th Anniversary of Redress during our reception which will be held in the Moriyama Heritage Centre. There will be a Redress display and a video presentation. It is only fitting that we recognize this important occasion since in 1989, thanks to negotiations that were undertaken by of one of our Board members, we received a total of $2.1 million from the Japanese Canadian Redress Foundation’s Redress Fund. These donations played a key role in helping fulfill our Founders’ dream with the opening of the Momiji Centre (later called the Frank H. Hori Community Centre) in 1992. By recognizing this important event, we also hope to honour the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC). Momiji is proud to have built a strong partnership with the Toronto Chapter over the past few years.

The Gala will be held on Saturday, August 25th at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre (6 Garamond Court, North York). Tickets are $300 each, black tie optional.
